Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Kidney Transplant

What are the chances of the body rejecting a kidney transplant?

My friend is 24 years old and suffered from a kidney failure. He received his father’s kidney and was coping well with it until recently when he started getting high temperature. The doctor says that his body is rejecting the kidney and will have to go through another transplant. What are the chances of the body rejecting a kidney transplant?

Need a biopsy by a transplant nephrologist at the center he got transplant at to diagnose rejection
The chances of acute rejection is about 15 percent over 5 years for a living related transplant and around 6-8 percent in the first year. Usually, there is treatment for acute rejection. Also, there is something called "subclinical rejection" and also chronic kidney injury called "transplant glomerulopathy". So, please talk to the transplant team and go from there.
Hope this will help you.
