Sports Medicine Specialist Questions foot pain

My husband has a sharp pain in his feet from playing football. What can he do?

My husband played football last weekend and gradually he has been getting a sharp pain in his feet. What can be done to treat this now? Is it too late?

Well, it is difficult to determine the exact Injury because there are multiple places this could happen on the foot. The most likely is either plantar fasciitis, which is at the heel, and a Morton’s neuroma, which is in between the toes. If it is a neuroma, you can try a metatarsal pad, which are available to purchase at any drugstore. If it is plantar fasciitis, which is very common and feels like walking on nails for some people, especially in the morning, this is just treated with stretching (calf/foot), rolling your foot on a frozen, partially filled water bottle, and sometimes getting a regenerative medicine injection. My philosophy is to treat the injury as early as possible. Be proactive, not reactive.
It's not too late, but seek a consult from a doctor to get a diagnosis for treatment.
He needs to be evaluated, not enough information.
First thought is shoes. Football cleats generally have little arch support. Consider adding an arch support. Can be found in any decent running store. Take football shoes and fit support inside. Other options may be a locked up joint in the foot. A proper manipulation by an experienced manipulative PT or possibly a chiropractor. Options past that would be to consider degenerative changes.
