Cardiologist Questions Bypass Surgery

After a bypass, how many times should you go for a cardiac checkup?

My mother underwent a bypass surgery 2 years ago. After the surgery followup she has not gone to any cardiac check ups. Ideally how many times should someone undergo a cardiac checkup after having bypass surgery?

In 6 weeks after surgery then 3 monthly check ups for 1 year. Then yearly cardiac check up if there is no active cardiac problem.
Should see her cardiologist every six months
Depending on her condition, she should see the cardiologist 2-3 times per year for check-ups, to prevent the grafts and other native blood vessels from narrowing. Bypass does NOT cure the original disease, only "bypasses" or creates detours across blockages. Her cardiovascular risk factors have to be under perfect control.
After 6 weeks post CABG then every month for 1 year then every 2 months for thereafter UNLESS EKG is abnormal
Every 3 months
First visit is within 2 weeks (medicare and most insurance recommend). Next visit is 3 months then 6 months. If everything is good with return of previous activity well then every 6-12 months is fine. The most important is medications such as lowering LDL to less than 50, A1C below 6.5 to 7.0 pending your age, good kidney funntion and an exercise program to keep you fit.
