“What is the course of treatment for sickle cell anemia in a 8 year old child?”
My son has been diagnosed with sickle cell anemia and the doctors have started out his treatment. I just want a second opinion on the course of treatment. What can we expect?

Depending on the type of sickle cell anemia, the course of treatment and follow up is slightly different. At the same time, all sickle cell anemia patients will need penicillin prophylaxis, boosters of immunizations, and it is very important to call the Hematologist with any fever so your child can be evaluated promptly.
