Naturopathic Physician Questions Hair Loss

Is there a treatment in naturopathy to treat hair loss?

I am having severe hair loss, which is not getting corrected with any of the medication I'm taking.. Can a naturopathic physician help me?

There can be many reasons for hair loss so the naturopathic way is to find the root cause and treat that. But there certainly are things that can help; a healthy lifestyle, juicing, and stem cell patches, to name a few.
First you should find out the cause. Naturopathy is root cause oriented. Hair loss can have different causes, it can be iron deficiency, hormonal, thyroid, autoimmune or stress. Once you find out the cause via lab testing and consultation. The right treatment can be given.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hair loss can be difficult as it leads to challenges around ones self-image. If you and your naturopathic physician are able to sort out causation of your hair loss then it would be likely that there'd be corresponding treatments to bring about resolution.
Yes, there are treatments that may help.
Yes. In naturopathy, we get to the root cause of a symptom. A better question to think about is WHY one is losing hair? Otherwise, how do you know how to treat it? Common causes of hair loss - low functioning thyroid / hypothyroid and STRESS.
HAVE YOU BEEN RULED OUT FOR THYROID DISEASE. HYPO OR HYPER THYROID CAN CAUSE HAIR LOSS. THINGS TO TRY ARE BIOTIN, VIVISCAL TABS, ROGAINE TOPICAL TO HAIR LOSS AREA.
Yes! Since many things cause hair loss, it is important to identify the root cause. A naturopathic doctor can help with this and recommend an individualized treatment that can range from nutrition and supplementation. I would also consider PRP.

Hello,

Yes!! I have successfully treated many women for hair loss using naturopathic medicine. It also works for men. Naturopathic medicine seeks the underlying or root cause of the issue and treats that cause. Some examples of common causes are things like low key nutrients in the body, like low iron/ferritin and vitamin D, or things like poor scalp blood circulation, or too much DHT in the body (DHT is the “bad” kind of testosterone hormone that causes baldness among other things). These are just a few of the potential underlying causes of hair loss.
I have helped many patients reverse hair loss. A naturopathic physician will help you find the cause of your hair loss by taking a detailed history, reviewing your diet, supplements and medications, assessing stress levels, as well as ordering labs. Common causes of hair loss that I have seen in patients includes iron deficiency, hypothyroidism, other mineral deficiencies, medication side effects, and hormone imbalances. Sometimes hair loss is caused by an autoimmune condition. A naturopathic physician can help you figure out if your hair loss is from one of these or other causes, and help you reverse it by treating the cause.

Yes, they can by looking at other aspects of your life along with labs. Find a Naturopathic Doctor near you to help you.
A Naturopathic Doctor can help with hair loss. There are multiple causes that should be assessed and tested for before treatment would begin.
It depends on the cause of the hair loss. If it's a micronutrient deficiency we address diet and add in supplements. If it's from a skin condition that must be cleared first. Some people have a hormonal-based hair loss, and of course some is genetic. Having said that, we can almost always find the cause after an initial intake and some labs.
Yes. I associate hair loss with a lack of B vitamins. Check out mthfrsupport.com.au for information on genetics that might be affecting your B vitamins. regards carolyn

Yes. There are naturopathic and acupuncture treatments for hair loss, but the success of the treatment will be based on the cause of your hair loss. A naturopathic physician could potentially help you. I recommend searching for a naturopathic physician in your state that offers a free or low cost introductory consult, to get a better idea if they could help your hair loss.
