Dentist Questions Plaque, Dental

What is the treatment suggested for treating dental plaque and soreness in the gums?

I am feeling soreness in my gums, and I can also see dental plaque developing in the back of my mouth. What is the suggested treatment for this problem? I have a phobia of visiting dentists and hence if you suggest the treatment before, I may be better prepared on what to expect at the dental sitting.

Hardened deposits cannot be removed safely, except by a dental professional. They should be able to keep you comfortably numb. Once the deposits are removed, daily flossing and brushing are the answer.
My guess is that you need a “deep cleaning”, where you would be numbed and half the mouth is done in one visit ..thus two visits
You probably have already developed gingivitis - an inflammation of the gums. First is to find a dentist who can work with your phobia. Ket your first appointment be for xrays, exam and consultation only. Be sure they have either sweet air (nitrous oxide) or they can write you a prescription for a sedative. Your second appointment can be for a cleaning to get rid of any plaque and tarter that have accumulated. I'd suggest you get an electric or battery-operated toothbrush to use at home twice a day, and floss nightly. An antibacteria, NON-alcoholic mouthrinse can be used, too. Do not scrub with the toothbrush. Since the top will spin, it is best to just hold it against the back tooth & let it do its thing for 2-3 seconds, then move it to the next tooth; let it do its thing for 2-3 seconds and then move it to the next tooth. Good luck.
Please be advised that one cannot make up for a lifetime of improper neglect of one's dental health in an effort to temporarily fool a diagnostic exam by a licensed dentist. No more than can one can pass a test without studying. Your oral hygiene program daily shooting clued brushing with a soft brush thoroughly and dental correctly to stimulate the gingiva and remove the precursors of plaque which are the Pasty material that adheres to the surface of the enamel along the gumline and between the teeth. A fluoride mouth rinse is effective in protecting the enamel but the plaque has to be brushed off manually twice-daily at least. Then you will enjoy excellent checkups but remember you may need to play catch-up as I sense you disregarded these proper techniques over a long period of time. This causes a domino effect of bad symptoms and sequelae.
Regular flossing and brushing. And, of course, regular cleanings would help a lot. Oral sedation, nitrous, and other methods of conscious sedation methods would help with phobia.
Very often, gum soreness and dental phobia go hand in hand. With a phobia, it is common not to get the maintenance you need and this often leads to discomfort. In most cases, a thorough dental cleaning would be the first step in bringing your gums back into health. If done correctly, this should not be a painful procedure.
The best treatment suggested for treating dental plaque and soreness in the gums is to take dental sealant procedure and visit a dentist in every 6 months for dental cleaning. This will surely help you to treat dental plaque and soreness in the gums.
It needs to be evaluated clinically and we need X-rays if there is any signs of active gum disease like bone loss. I would recommend an evaluation by a dentist as there are different stages of gum disease, thanks.
Good day

I’ll advise you to go for a dental cleaning, we called it “scaling and polishing.”

Dental plaque builds up every day, but it can be easily removed by brushing properly, thus one should brush teeth twice a day (ask your dentist for proper brushing instructions). When plaque builds up for a long time, it will calcify to be come dental stone, calculus, you won’t be able to brush it off once it forms calculus, you will have to go to a dentist or oral hygienist for scaling and polishing.

Scaling basically is using an ultra sonic instrument to breakdown the calculus with vibration and water. Many people scared of that due to the noise and sensitivity (you might feel a bit sensitive during the procedure), but if you don’t do it, your gum will never get better, because the cause of the inflammation is not removed (calculus), it will cause more problem such as gum recession, bone loss, mobile teeth, abscess, loss of teeth, etc.

After you done the scaling, the most important thing is the maintenance at home. As a health professional, we can only do so much, help people to get better, however, we also need patient’s input to look after yourself in order to have a successful treatment.

Wish you all of the best.

Kind regards

If you can see plaque and tartar along your gum line and you can not remove it with regular brushing and flossing, we recommend you visit your dentist to have it removed with a professional. Tartar can cause bone loss and eventual tooth loss. You need to make sure that this is not happening to your teeth so a visit to the dentist is highly recommended.

You can try brushing your tongue. Plaque builds up every 24 hours and can be removed by brushing and flossing. Tartar needs to be removed by a dentist or hygienist to prevent periodontal disease.
Hello, most likely the sorenes is caused by the inflammation of the gums and this is caused by the plaque and the tartar build up attached to your teeth. In most cases after an examination and X-rays, we can tell if a deep cleaning and the prescription of a medicated mouthwash will be the solution. Do not be afraid of your dentist; nowadays, dental procedures on patients with dental phobia can be completed with the use of sedation and patients are able to complete the treatment without any pain or discomfort. Regarding dental plaque, brushing and flossing are appropriate remedies. Oral soreness requires appropriate diagnosis to differentiate the etiology of the soreneness. Such symptoms could be due to either trauma, like due to clenching, or due to toxicologic inflammation, or  due to pathogenic organisms. A good biologic dentist could utlize energy resonance testing to identify the cause. Specifically testing with arnica and hypericum could identify the presence of trauma if these remedies resonate with intraoral soreness. Testing with homeopathic chem detox could identify the presence of VOCs if there is resonance with the soreness. Pathogen testing is more involved. Bacteria block the flow of energy. Resonance testing will implicate the specific bacteria, the specific virus, the specific yeast variant that could be cause.
