I'm 45, and I have a laparoscopic hernia surgery planned for next week. What type of anesthesia is used for this?

General anesthesia is typically used for laparoscopic procedures because the gases used to inflate the abdomen in order to do the procedure may cause referred pain to upper body that would not be controlled by regional anesthesia.
