Using melatonin no longer works?

My 16 year old daughter took melatonin often and now it isn't effective. She is having trouble sleeping again.

Find out the reason for sleep problem first. People can build up tolerance on Melatonin. Sleep specialist may be helpful if after evaluation by her pediatrician.
Firstly it is good to investigate as to why she has sleep issues. She needs to be seen for this. It could be a medical cause, psychological cause or primary insomnia. Having good sleep hygiene and good bed time routine is a good place to start. Keep social media away during bedtime.
What dose were you given? You can try 5mg. Make sure she is not using electronics before bedtime and not taking late naps when coming in from school.
