My mother in law, all of a sudden, has vaginal bleeding that is almost like a period because it lasted for about 4 days with a heavy flow. But, she is 72 years old. What could be the reason for this?

I suggest that your mother-in-law see a gynecologist. They may check the lining of the organ to make sure that everything is okay.
Vaginal bleeding in a 72 year old COULD be the first sign of endometrial cancer—she should be evaluated by a gynecologist ASAP.
