Naturopath Questions Pain relief

What are some natural pain relievers?

I want to stop taking ibuprofen whenever I start to feel pain. It's my go-to pain relief for when I'm experiencing headaches or cramps, but I feel like I'm becoming a little too dependent on it and taking more than I need. Are there any natural pain relievers that I can try?

Natural medicine offers a variety of excellent ways to alleviate pain. Acupuncture has been used for centuries in reducing and eliminating pain. From the Chinese medicine point of view, pain is just blocked, or stuck energy. Move the "Chi"/"Qi" and get instant relief. There are wonderful herbs that address pain. Two of which are white willow bark (which is what aspirin is derived from), and valerian (what the drug valium was derived from). Also, a good manipulation of the spine can often immediately relieve pain. As a last note, pain can be the body's way of communicating that there is a problem. To just cover up, dull or ignore the pain may not be the healthiest response. For the best salutation, see a naturopathic doctor to be evaluated for the root cause of your pain. Then how you address it will be effective and efficient.
