What are the treatment options for a throat infection?

I am a 22 year old female and I was diagnosed with a throat infection. What are the treatment options for throat infection?

If truly a throat infection, then typically antibiotics.

Most sore throats are viral in origin. Antibiotics not indicated. Other causes are strep, mono, a variety of other bacteria, candida. Other causes are smoking, alcohol, fire smoke inhalation, peritonsilar abscess, retropharyngeal cellulitis/abscess, tumors, etc. Viral infections treated conservatively unless complicatedly secondary bacterial infection. Consult PCP or ENT for the others
