My wife suffered with migraines for years. After proper examination and specific scientific chiropractic adjustments they are gone for the last 15 years.
90% headaches are linked to the neck.
There are several treatment options for migraines, but in my office I use massage along with other therapeutic modalities to help alleviate the headache. After an examination, I perform spinal manipulation of the cervical spine, which has been a great success in treating headaches and migraines. There are different types of adjusting so that it is safe depending on the exam findings and X-rays.
First are they true migraines or just chronic headaches. This condition is often misunderstood by many patients. Treatment varies base on the overall symptoms. Chiropractic is very effective. Sometimes the TMJ (jaw joint) can be directly related to the headache symptoms. Nutrition and diet also have a direct affect.
Chiropractic care has been known to help with headaches and migraines, but it is very case by case and patients can respond differently to different techniques.
Depending on the cause of the migraine, treatment can consist of chiropractic care, physical therapy, medication, acupuncture, or other therapy. The first step is to figure out what is triggering the migraine. Muscle tension, spasm, muscle imbalance, or spinal restriction can be some of the physical causes. Chemical imbalances can be another cause and have to be addressed as well. Find a good chiropractor to assess the neck, upper back, and low back as well as other joints to see if physical abnormality is the cause.

Chiropractic first, then lifestyle modifications
Most options include medication or injections. I recommend trying massage to the head and neck and Chiropractic first.
