What causes a pregnant woman to bleed?

I am a 26 year old pregnant woman. I had slight bleeding. What causes a pregnant woman to bleed?

There are multiple causes for bleeding in pregnancy and it is NOT normal to bleed during pregnancy. Causes for bleeding could be previa, pre term labor, cervical polyps, etc. See your OBGyn sooner than later.

There can be several reasons bleeding can occur in pregnancy. Vaginal infection, trauma (from intercourse), low lying placenta, possible miscarriage, cervical shortening. Obviously, some of these are more of an issue than others. 50 percent of pregnancies in the first trimester will get some sort of bleeding and still be normal.
