There are many possible causes of double vision. I would recommend seeing an eye specialist for an evaluation.

Double vision could be serious. It should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist. Double vision with both eyes open and it disappears when close 1 eye it is caused by a muscle imbalance of the eyes, which could be indicative of stroke to the eye muscle.
Strabismus, muscle problems, cranial nerve palsies, thyroid hormone problems, etc.
There are many many reasons for double vision. It depends on whether or not it is vertical horizontal, gone when either eye is closed or not and how often it occurs and other accompanying symptoms, such as pain, a drooped eye lid, etc. You should see an Ophthalmologist to discuss it and be examined.
If it's only in the morning on waking up, it could be something mild. You should see a Dr in case its early stroke or something else
