“What causes green vaginal discharge?”
Recently I started having a greenish vaginal discharge and I know this is abnormal. I'm 40, and have never seen this before. What causes green vaginal discharge?

Vaginal infection such as bacterial vaginosis is one cause of greenish discharge, as well as vaginal itching would be the most common symptoms.
Can be caused by multiple vaginal infections including yeast, bacterial vaginosis, trichomonis, chlamydia, or gonorrhea. It could be affected by diet or activity. You should see your gynecologist for testing and treatment.
There may be no definitive etiology of off color vaginal discharge. It may involve acid -base changes of the vaginal environment with floral changes. It may be benign physiologic changes or may involve more infectious process. The best advice is to visit with your physician and would take thorough history and exam to address this concern

It is probably bacterial vaginitis. You need to see a gynecologist to take a vaginal culture and treatment.
