Back pain, when treated by Chiropractors, is relieved using a procedure to align the vertebra. There are many different ways to accomplish this and it depends on not only the Doctor’s skill but also how long the patient has been suffering. Since everybody is different it becomes not only a science but also an art. Some Doctors of Chiropractic only use their hands while others use physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound or electrical muscle stimulation.
Chiropractic is very effective in treating back pain. The chiropractor is a well-trained, highly skilled doctor who can diagnosis and treat the cause of your pain. The techniques may vary according to the specific training the chiropractor feels comfortable using, but the goal and outcome will be the same- relief of pain and correction of musculoskeletal imbalance. Through spinal manipulation and various other methods the chiropractor removes pressure on the nerves that are causing pain and inflammation to a certain area of the body. Chiropractic is a safe, conservative, noninvasive therapy that has an excellent track record for back pain relief.

Adjust the spine to align the vertebrae and balance the muscles on both sides of the spine that can create the pain.
It all depends on what is found on exam and what is the history of the complaint. Serious causes such as fracture, dislocation or other systemic disease must be ruled. Examination methods may range from xrays, MRI, manual orthopedic testing, palpation of the involved area. At our clinic we also utilize a computerized digital foot scanner to look for imbalances that may cause back pain. In office treat may involve chiropractic manipulation of the spine and extremities, doctor assisted stretching and physical therapy. Home care may include using heat and or ice, stretching and over the counter pain meds. Of course, all of this depends on what is found during the examination.
That's a very good question. Our primary treatment would be adjustments of the spine following a thorough neuromusculoskeletal examination. X-rays can be ordered if warranted to determine the cause of the pain. Doctors of Chiropractic treat differently, so there are various ways to adjust the spine and some DC's also will prescribe therapeutic modalities such as
ultrasound, electrical stimulation and possibly exercises to support the area of the spine that is problematic.
I perform a physical exam to determine the cause of the back pain. Then, I determine a treatment plan based on the diagnosis. If the cause is spinal misalignments, I perform spinal manipulation to the joints of the back involved.
Great question. A Chiropractic Doctor will utilize diagnostic skills to single out through orthopedic testing where the specific lesion lies within the back that is causing the patient discomfort. Once the Doctor has narrowed down the possible tissues where the lesion may lie, diagnostic orthopedic testing will begin to enable us to recreate the patient's chief complaint. Once all these steps have been done, if an adjustment is warranted, the Doctor will then put to work the skills that were taught to us in our adjusting labs for the 6 trimesters of school. These take into consideration any special that the Doctor may utilize to safely and effectively treat the patient's chief complaint.

Chiropractors treat back pain but most importantly getting to the root of the back pain. Now we are finding that by the time you have back pain more then likely it’s related to other things not working 100 percent in the body If it’s not accident related or injured. Chiropractors treat the nervous system which is the main system responsible for every function in your body. This is why many chiropractors like myself take a holistic approach to treating the body. In other words you can have back pain from a fall or everyday postural things but you may also have back pain from your stomach or your kidneys not functioning properly. In that case a chiropractor can recommend supplements after reviewing your health history along with adjustments that simply take pressure off of the nerves that have pressure on them ( non-invasive) to allow the nerve to function better letting the brain know the problem is being addressed. In short there are usually bones putting pressure on nerves that create back pain and we adjust the spine in a non-invasive way to remove pressure off the nerve so it can recover and all the tissue and organs that it’s connected to now get full blood flow and the back pain usually goes away. In more traumatic accident cases it’s more involved.
The nature of an organism is to develop structure to serve function. Chiropractic helps to restore and maintain proper function while the body heals with the normal architecture to support it.

First of all, a chiropractor will take a history and do an examination to come up with a diagnosis and treatment plan for you. Most chiropractors will do an adjustment to the spine to help free up the joints. Many will offer other modalities like electrical stimulation, ultrasound, traction, massage and so on. Many will give you exercises or stretches that you can do at home to augment the treatments in the office. Some will give you nutritional advice. If you are overweight, which could cause low back pain, they may recommend dietary or other lifestyle changes. Chiropractors have a lot of tools and resources that will aid in the treatment of back pain.
Chiropractors examine and treat the spine's alignment and function, as well as soft tissue function (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia). Chiropractors also use adjustments to correct the spinal alignment and function, as well as utilize physiotherapy modalities to treat any soft tissue dysfunction.
