Anesthesiologist Questions Anesthesia

What does terminal sedation mean?

My aunt is in hospice after a surgical complication, and my mom is talking about giving the hospice center permission for terminal sedation. What does this mean?

There can be multiple options for terminal sedation. You should discuss this with your physician. But the goal would be comfort during this stage.
Hope all is well.

Pretty much it means allowing the nurse/family to gradually increase sedation until a patient sleeps comfortably away.
