What does waking up from anesthesia feel like?

My 15 year old son will be under anesthesia for the first time this month. I want to explain to him what it feels like to wake up from anesthesia.

If the anesthesia provider is a good one, he will feel nothing. He will be like someone took a Valium. Things may look unfamiliar, but he should not remember. If he is a red head, he could be a bit difficult, but a good anesthesia provider can do wonders. He should not remember anything, even going to the OR.
Its inportant you tell him to no be afraid. That doctors and nurses are going to take good care or him. It just waking up from a dream. Only that he will feel a litter pain. But surgeon orders medication.
It's like waking up from a nice sleep.

Most of kids bounce back from anesthetic very quickly. Most of the time, they wake up a little groggy and sleepy. We are very aggressive in treating their pain and nausea so they wake up comfortable. As we feel they are ready for their family, we bring them in.
It feels like the gradual dawning of awareness. Not particularly different from waking up after sleeping.
