What happens during a surgical tooth extraction?

I am a 35 year old male and I will have a surgical tooth extraction. What happens during a surgical tooth extraction?

"Surgical tooth extraction" is a little more complicated than a "simple" extractio, often requiring sectioning of the tooth into pieces and/or removal of bone. The surgical site it then closed with a suture (stitch).
Typically, a small incision is made around the tooth. Sometimes the tooth needs to be sectioned with a drill and in some cases a small amount of bone needs to be removed from around the tooth to facilitate removal. Stitches may or may not be necessary. If in doubt, see an oral surgeon.
Hope this helps.
