Ophthalmologist Questions Allergies

What should I do for the dust allergy that irritates my eyes?

I have a severe allergy towards fine dust, as it causes my eyes to be itchy, red and painful. Is there a way to tackle this allergy? Can I rely on drops alone or will I need extra help?

You can use over the counter antihistamine and/or lubricating drops.
You should try to avoid dusty environments. Try nonpreserved artificial tears and cold compresses for comfort. Over-the-counter Zaditor twice a day is a good allergy drop. You may need to see an eye doctor for steroid drops and an allergist for allergy shots.
Prevention is best. Hence, reduce exposure to dust by having no carpets at home, changing bedsheets and pillow cases at least twice per week, and no pets at all.
Outdoors and in springtime, you need to wear a dust mask or N95 mask. Allergy medication will help, too.
First and foremost you need to avoid allergen (in your case dust), second you may wash your eyelids and lashes more often to clear the area out of dust, third you may use cold compress for itching and use antihistamine drops as well. Remember allergy and dry eye come together, use some OTC artificial tears as well.
