What is the best painkiller for severe toothache?

I have a very toothache in one of my back molars. What can I do to make the pain go away? What's the best painkiller?

In this case, see your doctor asap because the pain could be from an infection or a deep cavity that needs immediate attention. In the meantime, if you are not allergic to any pain medication, you can take Ibuprofen that could, and if that does not help, then try taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol alternately 4-6 hours apart to have a well rounded pain control cocktail.

A recent study showed that the combination of acetaminophen and ibuprofen (NSAID) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) taken at regular intervals proved to be more effective than opioids-based medications following painful dental procedures. There were also fewer adverse effects.
