Pediatrics | Pediatric Cardiology Questions Chest Pain

What is the cause of my son's chest pain?

My son is 10 year old, and he has experienced chest pain for already one week. What could really be the cause? I'm afraid that this has to do with his heart.

there are multiple causes for chest pain in children. I would recommend seeing your doctor if he is still having chest pain. consider a consult with pediatric cardiology.
He may have rhythm abnormality- irregular or fast heart rate. Otherwise, it may be simply due to muscle pain (chest wall) from trauma. It is important to know what is he doing when he develops the pain and for how long the pain lasts. It could also be from the lung due to some infection. Does he have fever, cough or nasal discharge?

Chest pain is relatively common in children. Luckily it is rarely from the heart. I recommend your child gets evaluated by his pediatrician.
