Hematologist-Oncologist Questions Complete Blood Count (Cbc)

What is a CBC and why do I need it?

My doctor wants me to take a CBC after experiencing a lack of energy and feeling fatigued. What exactly is this test, and what is it supposed to indicate?

A CBC is a complete blood count. Two of the things it measures are the hemoglobin and red cell count which measure the amount of red blood cells in your body. If they are low it may be a sign of anemia. Lack of energy and fatigue are signs of anemia as well as other medical problems.
CBC is the abbreviation for Complete Blood Cell Count, it is a test done to help your doctor know if your tiredness is due to anemia, a condition when your red blood cell number is low.
