Bone removal
Dental alveolar surgery is the surgery/treatment of teeth and supporting structures, i.e., the jaw. Likely in your son's case, the tissue covering the tooth will be incised and the tooth will be exposed by alveolar bone removal and the tooth will then be removed.
Typically bone is removed to expose the impacted tooth, which is then extracted. "Dentoalveolar" refers to the tooth (Dento) and the adjacent bone (alveolar).
Dentalveolar surgery involves removal of a small amount of bone hiding an impacted tooth.
