I'm 46 years old and I have a lump in my breast. I'm really afraid. What could this lump in my breast be? What should I do?

Hello

You are asking a question that occurs to every woman who finds a lump in her breast. You don’t give enough information about your situation, however, to be definitive about the etiology of the lump.

The most worrisome possibility is the presence of cancer in your breast. However, there are multiple other possibilities. If you have had routine mammograms in the past, it is possible that this abnormal finding may have been seen on one of these tests. Other possibilities include cysts which are completely benign and can appear later in life.
Go see your Gyn or family practice doctor who will order a mammogram and ultrasound diagnostic testing. It could be a cyst, which is most likely, but it also could be something worse like a cancer.

Please see your doctor for imaging - mammogram and ultrasound. 80% of breast lumps are benign. But it needs to be looked at!!!!
You will need to see a doctor who specializes in breast surgery after getting a mammogram and ultrasound. This could be a benign tumor and not a cancer, but it's hard to tell without examining it and looking at the films. It may require a needle biopsy before considering removal. This is something not to get too stressed over. It happens a lot and can be dealt with if addressed early enough.
I would start by getting an examination by her gynecologist and having him order a mammogram and ultrasound. The majority of these lumps proved to be benign but they all need to be evaluated.
