What is the treatment for children with Crohn's disease?

My 10 year old son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. What are the treatments for someone his age? What are the chances he'll recover from this?

I'm afraid that the answer is beyond the scope of this forum. Entire books are written on this topic. Suffice to say that there are many medications available now, thanks to many scientific advances and pharmaceutical companies that have conducted clinical trials. Make sure you have a good pediatric GI doctor with deep knowledge and experience with Crohns and you son should be able to get help and get into remission. See the Crohns and Colitis Foundation website for info on the disease.

It’s tough for an adult to have this condition and even tougher for a 10 year old. I’m sorry to hear about your child. Crohn’s disease at his young age has long term effects and proper treatment is a must. Please discuss with his physician. My best wishes.
If your son has Crohn's disease the treatment options are a very broad spectrum. For starters, Crohn's disease is an autoimmune disease where your own immune system attacks your GI track. It is not curable, although with good medical treatment we talk about "remission" where the disease is suppressed with no signs as long as you keep taking the medicines. The medical therapy depends on the extent of the disease from simple anti-inflammatory agents to powerful immune suppression agents. It depends on how severe the disease is and his response.
Crohn's is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that has periods of exacerbation and remission. Biologics and anti-inflammatory drugs are used
