Anesthesiologist Questions Anesthesia

What kind of anesthesia is used for ureteroscopy?

My doctor wants me to have a uretoscopy for my kidney stones and I need to have it done soon. Will I be put to sleep for this?

It depends on the procedure occurring. However, it is often general anesthesia.
Not necessarily. A spinal anesthesia with some sedations is likely sufficient.

Typically general anesthesia, you do go to sleep for it.

It always comes down to what one is going to have done. Typically for urologic procedures one would undergo a general anesthetic. If one wanted to avoid general anesthesia, one could undergo the procedure with epidural or spinal anesthesia as well.
Typically you would have a general anesthetic, though a spinal is an option.
