GETA- general endotracheal anesthesia
Spinal/epidural/general.
If open, an appendectomy could be done under regional or spinal anesthesia. Also can be general endoscopy. In the case of laparoscopy appendectomy, general endo is indicated.
You must discuss this with your anesthesiologist.
General
General anesthesia is indicated for an intra-abdominal procedure such as an appendectomy. This enables relaxation of the abdominal wall in addition to analgesia and amnesia.
You will have what is called general anesthesia, which means you will be given drugs to make you unconscious, pain free, and unaware during the procedure.
