Radiation therapy linear accelerators produce high energy electron beams (6MeV to 16 MeV). The electron beams are used to treat superficial regions of the body, like surgical scars or skin cancers. In order to treat internal organs, the electron beam is passes through a Tungsten target in the machine head, converting the energy from the electrons into high energy X-rays. X-rays penetrate much deeper into and through the body.
Typically photons in the 6-18 MV range and often a range of electron beam treatments as well
