Occupational Medicine Questions Occupational Therapy

What's the difference between occupational and physical therapy?

I'm just wondering what the difference is between occupational therapy and physical therapy. Do they focus on different things?

Good question. Both of these professions fall within the field of allied health and though similar in the views of many they are far from being identical. Theologically, Physical Therapy is based on medicine while Occupational Therapy is more Phycology based. In function Occupational Therapy focuses on improving everyday functional activities such as dressing and hygiene activities while Physical Therapy focuses on functional activities such as walking, reaching, standing, squatting, sitting and bending.
