Dentist Questions Discolored gums

Why are my gums turning brown?

I have been noticing my gums turning brown for a few months. I'm 28 and I've never seen anything like this before. I'm not a smoker. What can I do?

It may be melanin due your genetics. However black gums can be a sign of leukemia or maybe metal poisoning like lead? It’s best to see both your dentist and physician!
It may be a medication you are taking. But if it persists, see your dentist.

See an oral surgeon.
Pigmentation of your gums can be a sign of a systemic problem (like Addison's Disease). You should see your MD.
See a dentist.
Change in color of gums can happen over time. Also if you are having gums which are Browning then you have a hereditary situation. Don't worry about it because it is normal for many people.
You need to have a dentist look at this. Gums should not be changing colors.
Diet may cause staining
That is difficult to answer because there are several different reasons that gums turn brown. It could be normal for you, could be staining from something you are eating, gingivitis, or some other type of infection. Unfortunately, many people believe that they should wait until something hurts and that usually means more damage, more money and more time then if it had been caught early. Bottom line is that there may be nothing
you can do on your own so go see your dentist, better safe than sorry.
If you have not been to have your teeth checked in a while and you are getting that brown color in multiple areas of your mouth, it is very possible that it is from black calculus build-up just underneath your gums.
If they are bleeding and a little painful it could be a sign of gingivitis or early periodontal disease. A thorough dental exam is needed to determine the cause.
