Why do ear infections cause vertigo?

My son is 10 years old, and he has an ear infection. Today, however, he had an attack of vertigo. Why do ear infections cause vertigo?

Because if infections affect the inner ear where the equilibrium apparatus is located, then the patient starts feeling vertigo.
Ear infections can cause fluid and affect the cochlear of the ear that controls balance which causes the vertigo
The middle ear is in continuity with the cochlea or hearing organ, which is adjacent to the vestibular or balance system. Any inflammation in the middle ear like in an ear infection, can transmit inflammation to the balance system and cause either falling in young children, or a complaint of vertigo in older children. When the infection goes away, the balance issues will resolve. If they don’t, you must see an ear, nose, and throat doctor.

The accumulation of fluid in the middle ear can affect balance. Hope he feels better.
