Well it probably does need to be "cracked" but please do not try it yourself and never let anyone else try. Go to a chiropractor and you will be so happy!!! I have been getting adjusted over 44 years, I love it and being in the business have seen many miracles. Good luck
The body is very intuitive. It asks for what it needs. Sounds like it may need an adjustment.

Probably because it does, in the correct manner of course.
Tension. Life is stressful, as you know. That stress is experienced in our bodies' nervous systems and is felt in our muscles. The muscles tighten up, pull on the vertebra, and cause tension. Stretching, exercise, and yoga often can release the tension allowing for the muscles to relax. Sometimes exercise is not enough to manage stress, and chiropractic care is successful in releasing stress completely.
You most probably have a joint that is stuck or restricted and it needs to be unstuck. If you try "cracking" it yourself, you will almost for sure not get the right segment and ultimately make it worst. Cracking will feel good for a few minutes but then it will come back. Go to a good chiropractor.

Usually the sensation of needing to crack your back comes from some type of bio-mechanical dysfunction that is occurring throughout that specific area or an area that influences that region. Proper correction of that dysfunction and stability therapy of that region is needed to minimize or eliminate that sensation.
Check your posture!
What you are feeling is probably a dysfunctional joint or a "stuck joint." It is not possible to free up this stuck joint on your own and requires manipulation from a trained professional. I recommend a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist who utilizes manual manipulation.
