“Why is it recommended to drink water after a massage?”
I never really drank water after getting a massage, but after my last session I noticed that my massage therapist really put an emphasis on it. Why is it important to drink water after a massage?

After a massage your body needs water to flush out toxins in the body as well as muscles, your muscles respond better if you are hydrated.
Massage flushes out toxins from your muscles. You need the water to flush them through your digestive and urinary systems so the toxins don’t cause discomfort later in the day or night.
Drinking water post massage helps the body flush out any accumulated materials that were released during the massage. This is especially pertinent in deep tissue and therapeutic massage as massage stimulates circulation in the body.
The wellness industry claims that massage therapy can flush toxins. And drinking water helps detoxify the body after the session. Its a myth that unfortunately keeps circulating. Your liver and kidneys do this already. Yes, it is very important to drink water after your massage. A lot of toxins are released during a massage and its important to dilute these toxins for easy excretion via urine. We use a phrase "the solution to pollution is Dilution" very true. Please drink warm water vrs cold, cold is never recommended.
Yes. Always. The water helps the toxins in your body to flush out. That helps the body to feel better and recharged. I would drink water and herbal tea for sever days after the massage too. Please drink water! At least a glass or two.
Deep muscle work pushes toxins like lactic acid out of your muscles and into your bloodstream. It’s always important to drink plenty of water; half your body weight in oz is recommended. After deep bodywork you can sometimes be left sore, achy and lethargic, being dehydrated makes it worse. I hope this helps!
It's important to stay hydrated to help out with kidney, lung, liver, and digestion processing out toxins.
We are boosting micro and macro circulation (blood and lymphatic fluid). The more water you drink the better the flow of fluid through the system and the more optimal the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells and organs and the removal of waste products. If you accelerate the release of the waste products but they cannot move out of the system because of a backlog you create a toxic environment. Water helps boost the flow of this material through and out of the body systems.
Water keeps your soft tissues hydrated which promotes healing and flexibility. After a deeper pressure massage there will be some healing that goes on which will be prolonged in someone who is dehydrated.
It is recommended to drink water after a massage to help flush the toxins out. Massage brings dislodges toxins in the skin and muscles and bring them to the surface and drinking water helps bring those out rather than them stagnating in the body creating more problems. Massage also moves fluid throughout the body,Ike with edema and drinking more water will help initiate release of the extra fluid as well
