“Why is my child's cough not going away?”

Thank you for your question. There may be several reasons for the cough. If it has been going on for a week it is time to have him evaluated. If he has a fever or seems to be short of breath, this needs to be addressed sooner. Causes for the cough can be an infection - viral or bacterial, allergic or asthma related - it is the season when kids start to wheeze. At this age, we also have to make sure that he has not swallowed anything.

Hi, he should probably be seen to determine the source of cough. It could be allergies, upper respiratory infection, pneumonia or many other different things. If he were to have a common cold cough could be there for up to 4-6 weeks. So I strongly recommend you take him in to see his Pediatrcian. Hope this helps
