Will antibiotics kill an infection in the tooth?

I am a 44 year old female and I have a tooth infection. Will antibiotics kill an infection in the tooth?

Amoxicillin works just fine, but you need to get the problem fixed. Taking an antibiotic only keeps it at bay for a month or so, then it gets worse.
No
Antibiotics will "kill" an infection around a tooth (i.e., in the gums and bone), but WON'T kill infection inside the tooth. So...if you have an abscessed tooth (infected, dying tooth), you need to mechanically remove that infection with either root canal therapy or extraction.

Antibiotics will control and reduce the infection at the tip of the root and surrounding gum areas. If the infection is in the tooth due to an infected nerve, root canal treatment will help eliminate the infection and the antibiotic therapy should allow proper healing and eliminate the infection.

Antibiotics will get the infection under control but not eliminate the infection. The root cause of the infection must be treated
Antibiotics will reduce the infection temporarily but teeth or gum infection must be treated by your dentist.
