My wisdom tooth hurts bad. What can I do for it?

My wisdom tooth hurts so badly, and it has been really bothering me throughout the day. I can barely eat. What can I do for the pain before I go to the dentist? My appointment is a few days away.

Take OTC medications such as Aleve, Advil and Tylenol. Swish with warm salt water and try to not eat on that side. OTC topical numbing gels can help also. Elevate your head while sleeping.
You can take over the counter pain meds and anti inflammatory such as ibuprofen 200mg or Advil. Also keep those areas really clean. Hope this helps
Ibuprofen 600-800 mg is the best pain reliever. Warm salt water rinses can help. If you are swollen, ask your dentist to prescribe an antibiotic to bring the swelling down before your appointment.
If the wisdom tooth has erupted then there could either be an infection or surrounding area is inflamed. In the meantime, you can take over-the-counter painkillers and see your dentist asap. After taking X-rays, your dentist will be in the best position to assess what is the best course of action for you.
If you tell your dentist that you are in a lot of pain, he should see immediately.
Clove oil may help with the pain if it is due to a true toothache and not just the eruption of the wisdom tooth causing the pain. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication may help but only take for a short amount of time and do not exceed the recommended dose.
