Alzheimer's and Assisted Living: The Considerations

Visit at least three communities before making your decision.

  • It is recommended you visit at least three communities before making any decisions. Form a picture of the options your loved one needs and weight out the amenities. Keep your options and your mind open. Think of your loved one before yourself.
  • Read the fine print on the contact. There might be fees that you don’t realize. Nothing is more distressing than being caught unprepared by price increase or the cost of an amenity.
  • Take family or friends with you when you are searching for an assisted living facility. Two minds are better than one, and someone else might see something you don’t understand. Obtain the services of a senior advocate to help you. A senior advocate can have ideas that you did not realize was important.
