The GOLO Diet

The GOLO diet is a popular approach to dieting that became the most searched for diet on google in all of 2016. But, just because a program is popular doesn't mean that it is effective. So does the GOLO diet work? Before you invest money in this particular diet program, see what our research has shown.

What Is the GOLO Diet?

GOLO for Life is a weight loss program that helps you lose weight through insulin management. Dieters invest in a 30-, 60-, or 90-day GOLO Rescue Program that promises to help restore hormonal balance and repair metabolism.

Each Rescue Program includes:

  • diet and lifestyle booklets, including "The Metabolic Fuel Matrix," a guidebook that explains the eating plan
  • release weight loss supplement (a 30-, 60-, or 90-day supply)
  • access to support tools and services via official GOLO website

The GOLO Rescue Plan was created by doctors, pharmacists, and nutritionists after doing extensive research. The brand positions itself as a refreshing alternative to the traditional commercial diet industry because you don't have to rely on calorie counting or consumption of diet foods to create weight loss. So far, it claims to have helped over one million people successfully slim down.

How does GOLO work?

This product helps your body control the sugar processing, which means it helps your cells to absorb glucose. It also prevents the buildup of fat created by the body. In most cases, your body cannot absorb all the sugar you have ingested, so GOLO helps lower your blood sugar, reduces your food/calorie intake, minimizes cravings and stimulates your body to burn fat and not to store it. GOLO claims it will also give you a boost in energy and make it easier for you to do your daily chores and workout harder than usual.

Ingredients

This product is based on reducing body fat by controlling sugar in the body and the way it's absorbed and contains ingredients known to control blood sugar, which in theory should help you burn fat. Here are some of the ingredients:

Banaba extract

Made from a species of crepe myrtle tree, Banaba Extract is used for treating diabetes, which can lower blood sugar by 10% in people with type 2 diabetes and also can help with weight loss.

Inositol

Inositol is used for diabetic nerve pain, panic disorder, high cholesterol, cancer, depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism, and many more. It can also be used to treat conditions associated with polycystic ovary syndrome, including failure to ovulate, high blood pressure, and high levels of testosterone.

Apple extract

Apples are mostly used to control diarrhea or constipation and for the softening, passage, and collection of gallstones. But they are also used to prevent cancer, especially lung cancer, diabetes, dysentery, fever, heart problems, warts, and a vitamin C-deficiency.

Does the GOLO Diet Work?

Some people will probably lose weight successfully with the GOLO diet. But it's very likely that the weight loss results are due to simple caloric restriction combined with high-intensity exercise. When dieters consume 1300-1800 calories per day and burn a few hundred extra calories per day they are most likely producing the calorie deficit required for weight loss. As a basis for comparison, the typical American man consumes 2,475 calories daily and women consume 1,833 calories per day. That means that a typical man on the GOLO diet would be reducing his intake by roughly 700 calories per day and a typical woman might be reducing her intake by about 500 calories per day. That caloric reduction alone would most likely produce a 1- to 2-pound weight loss per week.

Normally, GOLO is only beneficial for people that have diabetes to control their blood sugar easier. There is no scientific research that proves the fat loss effects of its ingredients.
