A creative spin on a classic race for the cure is the annual Stand-up for the Cure paddleboard fundraiser event. Held in Muskegon, Michigan during the summer, participants can paddle board their way around Lake Michigan to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
The Muskegon, MI event was patterned after similar events held in California and Miami. The Muskegon chapter began only three years ago, but in 2017 it already had over 700 participants. The event featured paddle boarding instructions from experts who came all the way from Hawaii, a 5K paddle board relay race, as well as a traditional Hawaiian blessing from breast cancer survivors before the festivities began. The Stand-up for the Cure paddleboard fundraiser event is a great way to be active and stay cool while supporting the fight.
