While the increasing number of diagnosed cancer cases is reason in and of itself for concern and for action, there are other statistics that put the number in an even more pessimistic perspective. India currently has the third highest number of cases of breast cancer in the world, but it’s one of the top two countries in the world when it comes to mortality from female-specific cancers. Cervical and breast cancer are the two most common forms of female-specific cancer, and data suggests that the mortality rate for Indian women dealing with one of these disease is 1.6-1.7 higher than that of other countries.
