Uncertainty about the future
The most difficult part of being diagnosed with breast cancer was the uncertainty that came with it. Not many women get breast cancer at Colleen's age, and it was hard to cope with the fact that doctors often did not have answers to her questions. She didn't know if she was going to be okay in the end. All she could do was continue to fight on.
Colleen still doesn't know whether she will be fertile in the future. She wasn't able to freeze her eggs prior to starting her treatments. Her tumor was too aggressive, and there was no time for Colleen to do any future family planning. Though she's not planning to have kids anytime soon, Colleen finds it difficult to know that she may never be able to.
