Giuliana Rancic's Breast Cancer Battle: Where Is She Now?

Upon returning to work, she convinced her colleagues she hasn't changed

After the surgery, she was too scared to look at herself in the mirror for weeks afterwards. As a woman working in fashion and focused on appearances, a double mastectomy can crush an ego. She stated that one night before bed, she went ahead and looked and was relieved at the sight. They didn’t look nearly as bad as she thought they would, and this helped her mindset get back on track. Heading back to work was another struggle. As a cancer survivor, colleagues may be nervous about what to say when you come back to work.

Giuliana states, “My first day back, I walked in and these girls I'd seen every day—my assistant, my hair and makeup girls, who I'd have fun with and be crazy with—all had this sad look in their eyes. It was like, ‘Hey, guys, cut the bulls—t. I'm the exact same person I was before. I'm still shallow, I still love clothes, I still want to talk fashion, I still want to gossip, so lay it on me.’ They were like, ‘Thank God.’"
