How Birth Control Can Protect Against Ovarian Cancer

Learn more about your IUD

If you are using an IUD as a form of contraception, learn more about it and whether or not it releases progestin (a cause of the breast cancer risk). There are nonhormonal IUDS, such as the Paragard, that you may want to look into. However, bear in mind that hormone-releasing IUDS can lessen menstrual periods while nonhormonal IUDs can often make them heavier, so if this is a difficulty to you speak more about it with your doctor.
