Mobile Mammography to Eliminate Barriers to Breast Cancer Screenings

Windsong Radiology in NY is now able to operate a mobile mammography unit

Windsong Radiology has been given a grant from the New York State Department of Health to operate a mobile mammography unit and provide breast cancer screenings to populations and communities with restricted access. The center is working with the community, healthcare partners, and churches in order to improve the screening rates of Western New York. “Breast cancer screening gives us the ability to detect cancer early. Early detection of cancer when it is most easily treated can help preserve quality of life,” said Markus Holzhauer, Director of Mobile Mammography at Windsong Radiology Group. The mobile unit is providing 3D mammography or digital breast tomosynthesis to women in need, allowing them to become advocates in their own health. This year, the mobile mammography unit will visit over 130 locations, with several more being planned on for the near future.
