Ovarian Cancer: How Early Detection Saved This Woman’s Life

Upon cyst removal, Cann was met with a surprise

Cann went ahead and chose to have her “cyst” surgically removed. Two weeks later, she was shocked to discover that she actually had stage two ovarian cancer. The doctors immediately started her on the appropriate treatments.

The signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer are easily ignored. Subtle changes in toileting habits and even small lumps here and there are things that anyone can easily brush off. Cann brushed these symptoms off for a long time, attributing them to other things in her life such as stress and work.  Her decision to finally go to the doctor was what saved her life. Cann urges all women to pay attention to their bodies and respect the fact that small changes could mean huge consequences. It’s better to be safe rather than sorry, so go to the doctor if you feel like there’s something wrong and you can’t pinpoint why.
