One of the most common symptoms of ovarian cancer is fatigue. This fatigue can lead to higher levels of anxiety or depression, and can negatively impact your quality of life.
Like so many other symptoms of ovarian cancer, however, it is a vague symptom that could come from a host of other diseases. Only about half of women with ovarian cancer become fatigued from it, as well.
The fatigue can be caused by the cancer through multiple methods. The cancer can increase the amount of energy used by your body, so if you do not consume additional calories then you will become fatigued.
The cancer can also affect your body’s hormone levels, which causes fatigue in a different way. Also, your body uses energy to repair organs and muscles which may be damaged by the cancer.
This does not even count the fatigue experienced by people who are diagnosed with cancer. Everything from cancer medication to the diagnosis itself can cause fatigue as well.
