The lead author for this study on women and genetic testing is Dr. Christopher Chiders, resident physician in the Department of Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. (For his part in the research, Childers received postdoctoral scholarship funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.)

James Macinko, professor of Health Policy and Management and of Community Health Sciences at the Fielding School is the study’s senior author.

Co-authors were Dr. Melinda Maggard-Gibbons, professor of surgery at UCLA Geffen, and Kimberly Chiders, a genetic counselor and regional manager of the Providence Health and Services, South California’s Clinical Genetics and Genomics Program.

The study report was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology on August 28, 2017 and also online in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Oncology.
