Surviving Breast Cancer Has Given Julie Stokes a New Legislative Purpose

Stokes's third bill would require fertility preservation options to be covered by insurance

Stokes’s third bill – House Bill 689 - requires coverage to preserve fertility options (sperm and eggs) since cancer treatments can cause infertility. “This is something… I feel men and women should not have to worry about while fighting for their lives,” said Rebekah Gee, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health. The bill was passed by the committee and it is currently pending approval by the House Appropriations Committee.
