The Next Level of Ovarian Cancer Care

Complementary roles to help cope with treatment

To help the patient deal with the digestive issues, the UAB team includes a Registered Dietician who meets with each patient to work together with them in planning caloric and protein needs to prevent malnutrition during treatment. (UAB comprehensive program.)

To assist the clients in maintaining their physical strength during this period of lessened physical activity, the program offers both physical and occupational therapy. (UAB)

To address the spiritual/emotional drain and social isolation that often occur with cancer treatment, UAB offers access to licensed counselors, pastoral care, relaxation therapy, guided imagery services, and pet therapy. (UAB)

Chemotherapy drugs may also affect a person’s reproductive processes. To help patients with this side effect, UAB offers a fertility preservation program.
